The Village is only responsible from the main to the water meter and/or shutoff. The property owner’s responsibility is from the meter to the house.

Water meters are read approximately between the 9th and 15th of every month.

Many high water readings are due to leaking toilets and outside hose bibs. Village personnel may assist with water usage problems, but do not have the time or equipment to troubleshoot inside the home water problems. These problems will have to be addressed by a plumber.

When the meter pits cannot be opened due to weather conditions, your water reading will be estimated. Typically your March bill is usually estimated. Customers with remote readers will be read. This scenario could explain why you have an estimated bill and your neighbor does not.

Oak Harbor has a majority of combination sewers (both storm water and sanitary). A rainfall, days old, may still keep the sewers full until the system has cleared.
