The Street Department is responsible for the maintenance of 18 single lane miles of streets and alleys, 2.86 miles of storm sewers, about 500 storm drains, 25 acres of parks, seven buildings and parking lots.

The Street Department is responsible for pavement repairs crack sealing, berm upgrades, traffic markings and curb repairs.  The Department is also responsible for the setup of voting booths for elections, tree trimming and stump removal, set-up for Memorial Day, Apple Festival, Independence Day, fall leaf pickup, monthly brush pickup and Christmas tree pickup.

Employees are versatile as they are called upon to do a variety of tasks such as: masonry, asphalt, excavating and construction, plumbing, landscaping, tree trimming, janitorial, traffic control and counts, minor engineering and vehicle maintenance.  The staff includes 6 full-time, 2 part-time and 3 seasonal employees.

WATER INFORMATION

The Village purchases its water from Ottawa County Regional Water.  The Village then distributes water along approximately 22 miles of water mains.

The three elevated towers keep a general water pressure of 40 - 50 PSI (pounds per square inch) to all homes and businesses.
